Despite a challenging security situation, we successfully completed a five-day training on Primary Eye Care (PEC) services, with a focus on conducting door-to-door surveys. The training was led by Mr. Amare Dagnaw (Optometrist, Durbetie Vision Center), Mr. Semachew Mebrat (Optometrist, Addis Alem Vision Center), and supported by SBEHP Senior and Junior Project Officers.
Participants included two Health Extension Worker supervisors from the Durbetie Woreda Health Office and Durbetie Health Center, nine Health Extension Workers from three target kebeles, and six Community Health Workers from the same areas.
Following the training, each trainee developed an action plan to carry out a one-week KAP assessment, leading up to the door-to-door survey.
